Crystal Warren is a South African poet. Her poems have been published in numerous journals and anthologies and in two collections: Bodies of Glass (Aerial Publishing) and Predictive Text (Modjaji Books). She edited New Coin Poetry for four years, teaches creative writing workshops, and is one of the coordinators and hosts of Makhanda monthly open mic Reddit’s Poetry. She lives in Makhanda where she works at Amazwi South African Museum of Literature.

This is an IN-PERSON event only Archie Swanson will be reading poems from his upcoming fourth collection, of clay, which will be launched in November. Thus far he has published three collections — the stretching of my sky (2018), the shores of years (2019) and beyond a distant edge (2021). He is widely anthologised and published in Africa and further afield and in 2019 was runner-up in the English category of the AVBOB Poetry Competition. Archie serves as Chair of the South African Literary Journal which publishes New Contrast and oversees the South African National Poetry Prize. Find Archie's work on Instagram.

Emily Buchanan is a poet, editor, feminist, businessperson, conservationist, parent, and grandparent. She has a degree in creative writing from UCT, and studied English literature and African Studies at Princeton University. Her poems have been published in New Contrast, Stanzas, Damselfly and Life Writing Collective. She is also a volunteer member of the Off the Wall Poetry committee.
