Juhléne Möller (née Wagner) grew up on farms and Bospoort small holdings in the Waterberg in the north of South Africa. A young life of tending the family’s wilderness farm and herd of cattle, of being deeply immersed in nature–both wild and rural– instilled in her a profound ecological intelligence, social awareness, and love of poetry. She now lives a greatly creative life in the Overberg, making art, writing, growing a small forest and varyingly chasing and inviting the light with her lens.

Donald Parenzee (1948-2022) Donald Parenzee is one of South Africa's most underrated poets. In an age where poets have to self-promote and self-market their poems, Donald Parenzee was too modest to think his poems should see it into print. With much lobbying from Keith Gottschak, his first collection Driven to work was published in 1985. His second collection, No free sleeping (shared with two other poets) came out in 1998. Donald was an architect, and this perspective enhanced some of his poems. This tribute will read a selection from his poems.

This is an IN-PERSON event only I am Thandiwe Nqanda, born and was raised in the mother city. I’m a Wits quadruple major graduate, an avid poet and writer. I am a black woman and most of my writing and experiences come from that narrative which is within itself so diverse. My writing includes nuances about my journey with my identity and the realms it all exists in—in the workspace, sports, education, and relationships. My art is one that is important to me and restores my purpose in life.
