Douglas Reid Skinner was born in Upington. He’s lived in Cape Town, London, Johannesburg, New York and San Francisco, working in mining, IT, publishing, wine and building. He lives in Thames Ditton, Surrey. His most recent collection, Liminal, appeared in 2017. He has published nine books of translation, alone or with an associate, most recently a selection of poems from the Italian of Marco Fazzini, Poesie Scelte, in 2020, and, with co-translator Richard Whitaker, Gaius Valerius Catullus: Selected Lyric Poems, also in 2020. He edits Stanzas in Cape Town and is English editor and a translator for the AVBOB Poetry Project.
