Elizabeth Trew returned to South Africa in 1991 after decades in exile. A former librarian and English language teacher in Oxford, Norwich, London and Johannesburg, she has been a counsellor for People Opposing Women Abuse (POWA). She is now a language-editor for post-graduate students and volunteers at a shelter for girls in Cape Town. Her poems, published in various poetry journals and anthologies, focus on interactions of people and a love of the natural world. A regular listener and reader at Off the Wall, she’ll be reading from her collection, The Widows’ House.
