Tauriq Jenkins has performed his poetry at various local festivals, including the National Arts Festival and the McGregor Poetry Festival.
He is a well-established actor and has performed at many national and international festival stages. He holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from Columbia University in New York and was Columbia’s Graduate School of Arts Sciences, 2015-2016 Oral History Merit Scholarship recipient.
He is the founder of the Independent Theatre Movement of South Africa (ITMSA) and Shakespeare in Prison South Africa. He was awarded the prestigious International Davis Peace Prize in 2013 for groundbreaking theatre and rehabilitation work in South African prisons.
