Hugh Hodge was born in Tavistock Devon, schooled at Rondebosch Boys’ High and graduated from Essex University, majoring in Russian literature and language, the metaphysical poets and modern American prose. For most of its existence, he was the perennial host at Off-the-Wall poetry in Obz, curating a welcoming environment for fledgling poets and an important space for established poets to test their wares. That Off-the-Wall continues to go from strength to strength is a testimony to the foundations he has laid. Hugh has served as Editor of New Contrast. His poetry has been widely published. In our 18 October OtW Zoom meeting we will be celebrating Hugh’s work and his wonderfully kind and encouraging spirit.
