Tauriq has performed his poetry at various local festivals, including the National Arts Festival and the McGregor Poetry Festival. He is a well-established actor and has performed at many national and international festival stages. He is the founder of the Independent Theatre Movement of South Africa (ITMSA) and Shakespeare in Prison South Africa. He was awarded the prestigious International Davis Peace Prize in 2013 for groundbreaking theatre and rehabilitation work in South African prisons.
