29 April, 19:30: I grew up in Welkom, in the Free State, from the 60s to the early 80s, went off to Grahamstown to study theology and soon replaced it with literary studies. From Grahamstown I came to Port Elizabeth to lecture, first at Visa then at NMMU. This time included a first marriage and one very lovely daughter. Later, I found myself in Saudi Arabia as an expat, along with a second marriage and a step family, another lovely daughter. We returned to South Africa in 2022. This sense of dislocation-relocation has shaped much of my recent poetry, which attempts to combine the intimate with the social, the personal with the political. Join on Zoom!
