Ken Barris

Ken Barris is a retired academic, writer and book critic, and currently works an

editor.

He has won various literary awards, including the Ingrid Jonker Prize, the M-Net

Book Prize, and the Thomas Pringle Award; most recently, the University of

Johannesburg Prize for his novel Life Underwater, and the Herman Charles Bosman

Prize for a collection of short stories, The Life of Worm & Other Misconceptions.

He has published five novels, two collections of poetry, and two collections of short

stories.

He has also judged various literary awards, including as lead judge in the Sunday

Times Fiction Award in 2019 and 2021.
