Julia is a screenwriter, working primarily in animation. Her TV work has shown or is forthcoming on BBC, Netflix, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon Digital, and other channels. Her short story Laatlammer was shortlisted for the 2021 Short Story Day Africa Award and published in the collection Disruption (Catalyst Press, 2022). She never thought poetry was something she could do, until she had her first child and became braver. She has since had poems published in a handful of journals, and is working on her first collection. She lives in Cape Town with her husband, two children, two Siberian Forest Cats and a Husky.
