CJ Driver, known usually as “Jonty”, was born in Cape Town in 1939. Detained under the 90-day detention laws on suspicion of involvement in the African Resistance Movement, but not charged, he left SA for the UK in 1964. For some 30 years his SA visa applications were refused. Details of his professional career are recounted in SOME SCHOOLS. He has published five novels, three memoirs, a biography, and more than a dozen books and booklets of poems, the latest of which is STILL FURTHER, New Poems 2000-2020, uHlanga Press, 2021. Jonty & his wife Ann live in East Sussex and visit South Africa whenever they can.
