31 July 19.30: Gail Dendy was first published in the UK by Harold Pinter. On Days Such as This is her eighth collection of poetry. Writing accolades include winning the SA PEN Millennium playwriting competition, second place in The Red Wheelbarrow competition 2021, and shortlistings for the Thomas Pringle Award (Prose) and the Sol Plaatje/EU Poetry Prize. She has been longlisted for Short Story Day Africa, the Twenty in 20 Short Story Project, and the Plough Poetry Prize (UK), and received ‘Highly Commended’ in the UK Poetry Space Competition as well as the Dinaane Debut Fiction Award. Other passions include dance, cats and being by the sea.
