The Ecca group of poets will be reading from What it is, their recently released 20th collection since 1989. Ecca is an informal group of poets originally from the Eastern Cape – the group’s founding members, Cathal Lagan, Basil Somhlahlo, Brian Walter, and Norman Morrissey taught on the staff of the University of Fort Hare, Alice. They were colleagues and friends who got together to work on poetry projects – this informal, friendly spirit remains a foundation. The current members of the group are Brian Walter, Olwethu Mxoli, Ed Burle, Silke Heiss, Alvené Appolis-Du Plessis, Jacques Coetzee, John van Wyngaard and Cathal Lagan.
