Douglas Reid Skinner and Archie Swanson talk STANZAS

Updated: May 8, 2023

19.30, 8 May: Douglas Reid Skinner and Archie Swanson will spend an evening chatting about poetry and Stanzas. Join us on Zoom!

Call out: We would like to intersperse poetry from Stanzas in the discussion. If any subscribers would like to book a place to read a short poem of theirs that has been published in the magazine, email Douglas at editor@stanzapoetry.org by Friday 5 May . (Needless to say, places are limited.)

Bio: Stanzas was started as a quarterly in 2017 by Douglas Reid Skinner and Patricia Schonstein, publishing new poetry, translations and reviews of new poetry collections. Design, layout and artwork was handled by the artist, Gaelen Pinnock and Jonty Driver and Joan Hambidge were (and still are) the magazine’s Literary Patrons. After the first 20 issues, Patricia retired to concentrate on her own writing and the magazine was given a bit of a makeover. It is issued three times a year but the number of pages per annum has been retained and, this year, increased. Jo-Anne Friedlander handles admin, layout and print liaison. Stuart Payne helps out as Assistant Editor, Anne Graaff and Cleone Cull with artwork, Keith Edwards with proofreading and Arthur Atwell with the website. Richard Whitaker, Elisa Galgut and Johann de Lange are the magazine’s associates. Stanzas is a subscriber-funded magazine and is not reliant on state or institutional funding; instead, the patronage of friends covers its shortfalls.
