Douglas Reid Skinner was born in Upington, South Africa. He has previously published seven collections, most recently Liminal (uHlanga, 2017), as well as ten books of translation, most recently Poesie Scelte: Selected Poems (translated poems of Marco Fazzini, Edizioni Fili D’Aquilone, Rome), and Gaius Valerius Catullus: Selected Lyric Poems (co-translated with Richard Whitaker, Crane River, Cape Town). He directed The Carrefour Press from 1988 to 1992 and was editor of New Contrast from 1990 to 1992. He is editor of the poetry magazine Stanzas and English editor and translator for the AVBOB Poetry Project.
