Adré Marshall was born in the Eastern Cape and now lives in Cape Town. She has taught English at various universities including UCT, where she was awarded a Ph.D. Her poetry has been published in numerous journals, including Carapace, New Contrast, English Academy Review and Stanzas, and the anthologies Absolute Africa, Earth Africa, and Coming Home: Poems of the Grahamstown Diaspora. She has appeared as guest poet at the McGregor Poetry Festival and other events, and is author of a book on Henry James. Now retired, she does translation work and enjoys having more time for reading, writing and walking.
