Adré Marshall has written poetry since her schooldays. She was a winner in an interschools poetry competition for a poem she now finds cringe-worthy, but since then has won other more noteworthy awards. She was placed third in the 2023 AVBOB Poetry Competition in the English category (for the poem Autumnal) and was shortlisted for the New Contrast National Poetry Award (Letter to Stalin’;s Daughter, and Childhood). Her poetry has been published in numerous anthologies and journals, including New Contrast, English Academy Review, Stanzas and the Sol Plaatjie Poetry Anthology. She has frequently presented her poetry at the McGregor Poetry Festival and other events and is the author of a book on Henry James, The Turn of the Mind. Now retired, she enjoys having more time for reading, writing, hiking in the fynbos, bird-watching and very amateurish botanising. Join on Zoom!
