Sarah Frost is mother to a 17-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl. She works as an online editor for Juta Legalbrief in Durban, South Africa. Sarah has been writing poetry since she was 19 years old. She has completed an MA in English Literature at UKZN and achieved a first class pass in an Online Poetry module at Wits University. She won the Temenos prize for mystical poetry in the McGregor Poetry Competition in 2021. Her debut collection, Conduit, was published by Modjaji in 2011. She is currently fine-tuning a second manuscript, The Past.

GRIPSCAPES - NORMAN MORRISSEY

Gripscapes is a collection of 205 poems, unpublished before or obscurely published, from the life’s work of Norman Morrissey, is a new landmark in South Africa’s poetic landscape. The multi-layered editorial work of John van Wyngaard in assessing and selecting from Morrissey's large body of manuscript material distinguish this book.

The collection is arranged in three parts following the major periods of Morrissey’s writing life, from 1979 to the time of his death in 2017. The title is chosen from an early poem: “I mostly know a truth / By a sense of something slipping me - / Fin-glint and cold-muscled / Gripscaped touch.”
